Malvern at War - The story of Malvern and its veterans in the World Wars 1914-1945.

Those Who Served 1939-1945

Test

In the Second World War, many more Malvern students and staff volunteered for the Army, Navy and especially the Air Force. And, whereas the First World War memorial list has 25 names on it, the list for the Second World War (left) shows 105 names. It seems a few of the names may not be Malvern students, but we have included the full list as it was published over the years. The red links will take you to stories that mention the person in our War Stories section. This list is static, but the names are still searchable in the database.

In addition, a call went out following the armistice in 1945 for photographs of the school’s veterans to be placed in a large album and labelled with calligraphy of the names, known in the archives committee as “The Big Book”. There are 504 photographs in 18 pages of double-sided mattes with 28 openings on each side. The images include some of the veterans who were killed. In total, there are 1,143 names in the database. The list below is static, but the people on it are still searchable in the database. Information on veterans who returned from the war is generally not available as access is restricted to those who died more than 20 years ago. If you find someone in the database whose details, such as date of death and service, you can provide please contact us using the comment form on the search results page, or by emailing us at 1930s@malverncollegiate.com.
